Looking For You

As far back as I can remember, I wanted to have a little girl. As happy as I was to have my son, I worried that it upped the odds of my having all boys. (And having a husband that is one of four boys, I felt a little worried.) When we had the 16 week ultrasound in April of 2003, we asked to know the sex of the baby. The moment they confirmed I was carrying a girl, I let out quite the whoop of joy. (I think it's still travelling somewhere in space.)

When I was eight months pregnant, Amy Grant released a CD called "Simple Things," and on it is a song called, "Looking For You." The song is probably all about finding the romantic love of your life, but in my motherly state, I took it to a different place. For me, it was all about finally having the little girl I'd always dreamed of. I sang that song to her all through the rest of my pregnancy, and then again the moment she was placed in my arms for the first time. She quieted right down, nursed, and listened.

"I've waited so long now
I've wanted forever to hold you
And now you're in my arms and I'll never let you go.
Whatever you do, you know
I'll be standing here beside you baby.
Just like a bird that's found it's way back home
I finally found the place where I belong.
*
I've been looking for you since I took my first breath.
And I'll be loving you baby 'til I take my last
I'd like to know
What would I do without you in my life?
All along I was waiting for you
From the moment I saw you I knew
I was looking for you."

Here by way of the SITS site. I'm glad you got the little girl you always dreamed of. I am totally the opposite, I am terrified of having a girl. LOL! I'm totally happy being a mom of only boys.

My song for M is Savage Garden's 'I Knew I Loved You' - I think this was meant for romantic love, too, but oh well.
