Pins and Needles

It's Lazytown around here again. And I'm not ashamed to say it! I know that our August weekends are completely planned, so I welcome these last few stress free weekends of summer.

I took a gamble yesterday and gave some advice to someone at work. She's a co-worker on my team that is seven years younger than me. She's been trying to get pregnant for over a year without success, and I've seen her get broken hearted over and over. This always makes me count my blessings for how easy we had it with our two kids. Our son was a third try, and our daughter was a first! We never had to struggle with fertility, but I've seen dear friends and family members go through it, and I understand what it can do to you.

Getting back to my point -- my co-worker had taken three tests over three days, and was seeing "something" of a line, but she didn't trust herself to be right. When I heard that her temp hadn't dropped, in addition to being 8 days late, I encouraged her to see her doctor. She thought she'd wait on that, but 20 minutes later she was on the phone with her doctor's office, being told to head to the lab at the end of the day for a blood test. I was on pins and needles all of last night, wondering the outcome. After all, if it was negative, I was going to be the jerk who sent her to the doctor and got her hopes up even more.

My cell phone rang at about 9:15 this morning. It was her, and she finally got the blood test results. Positive! She's pregnant! Rejoice, rejoice! I'm so happy for her, and will enjoy being alongside her at work over the next nine months. If I don't have another baby, I'll be sure to enjoy hers.

Aw, I got all teary eyed! It took us 2 years to have our miracle girl, so my heart immediately went out to her. I am so happy for her!

Yay!

It took us a long time to conceive number 1, and just one attempt to conceive number 2.

So I know what she has been through.

Now you get to be the friend that forced her to go to the doctor and ended up with good news.

Surely that makes you Godmother material. Ha!
