I'm a lucky girl today for lots of reasons. Here are a few.
Last night my girls took me out for an early celebration of Veteran's day, which also happens to be my 33rd birthday. They treated me to a ton of delicious Chinese food at my favorite place in town, and then we went to see "Role Models." Wherever you may stand on adult humor, this movie had us in tears we were laughing so hard, and I can still laugh out loud thinking about certain lines from the film. Not to mention the fact that it was like re-living my high school years with a certain honorable knight. (More on that later.)
Thank you Kim, Jen, Ro and Gypsy! I had a fantastic night out -- and I feel the love.
Today I'm off of work, which is a treat, and get to spend the day with my family. In an effort to spend a little less, I'm going to shop for all my fondue favorites and make a yummy birthday dinner fondue for the four of us. The kids love it, and the way we roll is to lay ourselves out in the family room with the coffee table covered with "the feast," as my kids like to call it. We'll crowd around and laugh as we drop our bread or tomato or veggies into the pot, making it the perfect end to another birthday.
In the meantime, we'll do something with our day, which will hopefully include some time outdoors since I'm usually cooped up in an office in the middle of the week. The sun is shining, and I know a certain Husky who would appreciate an adventure.
Lastly, I'm so grateful for all of our soldiers, present and past, who have given us the freedoms that we have today. I'm thinking especially about my Dad, who served his country more than I'll ever have the opportunity to do, and I'm honored to be his daughter.
Happy Veteran's Day everyone! And Happy Birthday to me. :)
