I'm in countdown mode this week.
Two days until I pick up my best friend at the airport!
Three days until we drive up to the scrapbooking retreat that we've been planning since summer.
And, sadly, six days until I drop her back off at the airport, knowing it will be a while before we see each other again. But I'm not dwelling on that. I'm just living in the moment and spending a crazy amount of time getting all the final details wrapped up before the weekend.
Thank God for great weather this week! Last year at this time California was hit with the worst storm we'd had in a while, and we ended up being cancelled, because the retreat location lost all power. Postponing to May made for an interesting situation and isn't something I'd like to do again, especially after a few of the disappointed customers responded in a way that suggested they blamed me. For the weather.
The most unexpected part was that we went from one extreme weather situation to another. We rescheduled for May, and ended up sweating through the hottest and buggiest weekend of our lives. The irony is that we all realized how much we appreciated the cold weather up there, and I don't think we'll hear one complaint this weekend about it. Well, okay, I HOPE we won't...but let's face reality, people. SOMEONE will think the cold weather is my fault. It's inevitable.
The project I'm bringing with me is my wedding album. Sure, I've been married nine years, and sure, I finally got our actual wedding album from the photographer last year. But I still have all of my own candids, plus all the proofs and a few others, and I've got to do something with them. I've got a fabulous reddish-maroon album with a heart frame on the front, paper and stickers with a romance theme, and every last thing I could find to add in. I can't wait to get started.
And there you have it. This weekend I'll be sublimely happy and totally content when I'm looking at this room...
...working at a table like this....
....with her sitting next to me!
