Someone's Fourteen!

Today is my niece's 14th birthday. She became my niece 9 1/2 years ago when I married her Uncle, and that was definitely one of the highlights of marrying him. She was the flower girl in our wedding -- how cute was she?!

When Hubby and I first started talking on the phone fourteen years ago, getting to know each other a little more every day, I remember him getting all mushy when he talked about his newest family member, who was then only five or six months old. I met her before she turned one, and she was absolutely the cutest thing I'd ever seen. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that she was meant to be in our wedding, and the best part was watching the wedding video afterwards. She was too shy to remember to drop the rose petals as she walked down the aisle, and then she stood up on the stage, rocking around and dancing and waving at her Mom and Grammy.

Cutest. Moments. Ever.

Over the years we've watched her grow through toddlerhood and past the awkward 'tween stage that we all go through. She handled it all very well, and has impressed us by becoming the beautiful young woman that she now is. Long arms, long legs and a gorgeous smile are what stand out most to me when I look at her most recent pictures. Pretty soon she may actually be taller than me!

Happy Birthday
to my beautiful niece, B -- I'm so happy that we're family, and I hope we'll always be close. I love you!!
