If you've been following along with the bouncing ball that is my life, you may recall I had some gift cards to use thanks to Admin day back in April. I've always been like this about money and gift cards -- I can't bear to regret a purchase, so I take my sweet time and think things through a million times before I make a move.
In the end I had narrowed it down to either new bedding or some various kitchen appliances. (Did you know there's a little egg cooker that you can tell your wishes to and they all come true? Well, as long as the wish is "I want soft boiled eggs, please." I am incapable of remembering how long to boil an egg to get it soft boiled, so I rarely eat them. This little gadget would be a dream come true!)
Here's what I finally did:
When I saw it at the store (and online before that) it caught my eye for how bright and light it was. I went back and forth for days because I worried that it was too "young" for me somehow. But my old comforter set was a dark rich green that I have been tired of for a while now. I was more than ready for something fresh, and this design really hit the spot. It lightens up the entire room, and now it's a place I want to spend time.
See that black framed picture on the nightstand? It's one of the sweetest and most thoughtful gifts I've received in a while, and mainly because it was so unexpected. One of my girls surprised me with it when we were in Monterey a few weeks ago for our Girls Only/Sex and the City 2 weekend. It's a picture of the full moon that she had taken for me months ago with her much-better-than-mine camera, and below the picture there's a quote that says May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door. Thank you, Lisa, for making me feel so cared about and loved. I really needed that.
I'm enjoying making my room a little oasis of my own.
