Things did and did not go as planned last night.
As usual, within moments of picking up the kids at the sitter's house, they went from charming little humans to raving lunatics in the amount of time it takes to put on a seatbelt. I don't know what that's about, but it happens 70% of the time, and I grow weary of it.
By the time we got home I might have been telling Charlie to go to his room for the rest of the night. He'd managed to hurt my feelings sufficiently and I was feeling done with him. Thankfully, he apologized and we hugged it out. It turns out I'm not the worst mom in the world and he doesn't love the sitter more than me. Whew!
Dinner was a success -- we all enjoyed our home made pizzas, and we watched the Valentine episode of The Middle together. No complaints here!
After dinner I found out that Noelle and her young unexperienced pallate hadn't cared for her Sprinkles cupcake, and that she had brought it home for me. It seems red velvet and cream cheese isn't her thing.
As it turns out, it IS my thing! Holy Frijoles!! This cupcake was amazing! And even though I wasn't a bit hungry, I ate the whole. entire. thing. It was perfect -- the right amount of sweet and creamy and moist without being overhwhelming. I was extremely impressed!
Beyond the cupcake, there might have been some chocolate consumed, and I know I got a little nauseous just watching Noelle eat Lik-M-Aid Fun Dip. How did I ever like those? I'm cringing as I type.
Thanks to the sugar intake I did not sleep well, so I'm looking forward to a veggie filled evening followed by much sleep. At least, that's the dream.
