The Big Decision

Do we, or don't we?

We met Aurora last night. So many things come to mind to share. First, she's actually half Alaskan Malamute and half Siberian Husky. She's a Malberian Sibermute. (Are you laughing yet? I was when I read that online.) Malamutes are typically bigger and stronger than Sibe's, and she is proof of that. "Rora," as our son kept calling her, is only 13 months but already taller than Simba by a lot. (Not that he's a large male.) She's got a big body and skinny legs that need to do some catching up. Her coloring is more black and white, and her eyes are multi-colored! One blue, one brown. Here are some pictures -- not of her, but of similar enough Malamutes. (I wasn't clever enough to bring my camera last night!)

I don't know if you can really see the difference between a Malamute and a Sibe, but those of us with one or the other often can. Aurora definitely has a unique look to her, and is bound to get even bigger than she is now, in the coming year.

And there lies part of our dilemma. Twice the dog hair, twice the food, twice the shots and care, etc. Those are the things that stop us from making a quick decision. Because who wouldn't snap this sweet dog up and love her for the rest of her life? Crazy people, that's who! Sensible people can also see that they'll have twice the love, twice the fun, and two Sibes who will love having one another.

I think you can see where this is heading.
