My Day to Save the Bay

Yesterday was great!

My company is all about giving back, and to give us a chance to utilize our paid time off for charitable work, they offer us various opportunities over the year to team up and do something. This month they gave us a chance to sign up for an afternoon of working with Save the Bay. They're a group that is essentially trying to save and maintain the wetlands around the bay area. I got to spend yesterday planting seedlings, digging up weeds and basically getting my hands dirty! It was so much fun! Our group of about 30 people planted 360 plants! It really felt like we made a difference, and we went home happy.

To top it off, it was Administrative Professionals day. My day job as an Executive Assistant puts me in with that group, and I was appreciated by my team with a very nice Visa gift card. Definitely the icing on the cake of my day.

The cherry on the icing on the cake? A nice long phone conversation with my best friend at the end of the day. Of course, I don't think it was her highlight, being that she was circling the Dallas airport in terror during a horrible thunder/lightning/rain storm, praying that her husband's plane would finally land and they could get home to their children. But from my comfy couch at home, it was a treat. (Sorry D!)

I can also say that I slept very well last night! (Not counting two walk in's by our son and a cold nose nudge from a Malamute.) I look forward to continuing my happy sleeping sometime this evening.
