Cleaning and what not

I was a cleaning maniac this weekend, and I confess -- it was fun! I finally gave in to peer pressure and invested in some Method cucumber spray for my counters, etc. Not only does it smell good, but I'm liking the non-toxic deal, too. My kids are forever climbing all over the counters, and it's nice to know there's a little less bad stuff getting on their hands, and eventually their mouths.

I started with the counters, and eventually ended up scrubbing the cabinets, my fridge, the walls, doors and doorways, and the outside of my oven. I even discovered a place below the oven where, in almost nine years, I don't think I've ever cleaned. It didn't show, and the amount of dust that I pulled out...well, let's not talk about it.

By the end of the weekend I made one more trip to Target to pick up more Method cleaners, and I can't wait to try them out. **Disclaimer** Nobody paid me to say this!

I also did some more organizing. This time, I worked on our medicine/cake decor/recipe shelves. I was astounded by all the never opened bottles of Fenugreek I found in the very dark corners of the upper shelves. Anyone else ever take that stuff? It was to increase my milk supply oh so long ago, but mostly it just made me smell like maple syrup. I was happy to pitch what was left! The best part was finally getting all the different medications into one basket that's too high for the kids to reach. What took me so long? Not that it was sitting on the counter with a sign saying, "Hey Kids! Play with these childproof bottles and see if you can get to the candy inside!!" But you get the gist.

My sweet boy was feeling under the weather, out of the blue. He woke up with a fever in the middle of the night Saturday, and spent all of Sunday on the couch practically unconscious. It's unlike him to not eat much and to be quiet and sleepy, so we kept an eye on him. By this morning he was more like his old self, and was able to participate in his first swim lesson of the summer. I hear both kids did wonderfully, and I hope to see at least one lesson at the end of next week. If nothing else, the stay at home dad can bring the video camera and tape all the fun things I'm missing. (Can you tell I love working full time?)

Speaking of which...lunchtime is over!

Hey, found you through SITS. I haven't tried the Method products, but I am thinking about it. Thanks for the good info.

Surfed over from SITS, thanks for the glowing review of Method products. I have seen them around and debated buying them. I think I will give them a try when I run out of my current cleaner. I bought a whole whack load of Melaleuca stuff before the stores started marketing "green" products.

My 4 yr old had a fever for a day then, boom, he was better. I didn't think we'd have to deal with anymore colds/flu/fever until school starts again.
