Homework time!

Kinder Girl had her first Adventures in Homework this week. She was so excited to show me her new "briefcase" that each kid gets, and the folder inside with her very important homework. It required the use of scissors to cut out her scrambled name, glue to attach the letters in the correct order, a picture of her and some various information about her. I was impressed with how much of it she took care of herself. She's quite the scissor expert, in case you didn't know. I had to help her with some of the words and sentences, but I thought she did a fabulous job copying down her birthday. I can't wait to see how the next few months go as she learns to read and write. I hope she loves it as much as I do!

And I hope her enthusiasm for homework lasts at least another week!

The un-fun highlight on this particular day was the phone call we got from the school, letting us know we hadn't gotten her shots up to date, and she couldn't return to school until it was done.

Cuh-rap!

Of all the things to have overlooked! Lucky for us (and not so much for her) the pediatrician got her in that afternoon, and she was nailed with four vaccines and a TB test. I was not there, but I heard about it afterwards, and she was not a happy camper. Daddy did a nice thing afterwards by taking her for a blue slurpy to help ease the pain and suffering. (Which explains the blue lips in the above picture.)

We went through the whole getting shots updated last year and it was not fun. They took blood from Big pup's finger and it broke my heart. Someone was hurting my baby and making him bleed! We have to go through it next year with Little pup and I'm not looking forward to it!

She looks so happy (well after the slurpee)! Who did she get for a teacher?

Ah, homework ... it's so nice when they're excited about it. Unfortunately the big 5th grader here doesn't love it, but isn't fussing as much so far as he has in the past. Ah, but it early in the year ...

She is so pretty! Shots-ugh! I still hate them and I'm 33. Good luck with Kindergarten.

She's quite the artist. K shots are no fun at all!
