Superbowl Time!

It's Superbowl Sunday, and if you know my husband, you know that's almost a religious holiday in our house. The entire day is focused around two very important things:

1. The Game

2. The Food

In years past we've gone in different directions -- either a delicious meal or bountiful appetizers, but rarely both. Because let's be honest...in the three hours of the game, you can really only do one or the other, unless of course you like being sick to your stomach at the end of the day. And I don't.

This year I didn't have a plan in mind until yesterday, when I told Rick it'd be nice to have some delicious steak and potatoes with a nice bottle of cabernet on the side. We've had a nice bottle sitting on our rack for over a month now. Today is the day. He took care of picking up a roast, which he will also be in charge of actually seasoning, cooking and serving. He doesn't mind being in charge of all that as the game is starting for one reason: none of his teams are playing. Let's be very clear, here: if the Packers or Vikings were in the bowl this year, I would be on my feet taking care of food business, because he would be of no use to me at all. Instead, he's roaming in and out of the house as the food is starting to cook, and I'm blogging. Yay Steelers and Cardinals!

When I was a kid I would ask my dad which team he was "voting for," and then I'd root for that team. Since none of our teams are playing, I've decided to root for the underdog, and so I'm voting for the Cardinals to win. So far they're down by 3 points, so there's still hope.

I may not be the football fanatic that my husband is, but I do enjoy a good game, and of course the commercials are often a hoot. I think I'm mostly astounded by how much money these companies are shelling out for their ads. Hey, pay me $3 Million dollars and I'd be happy to put your logo on my house for a lot longer than 30 seconds. Bring it!

Time to go -- this is the one game each year that my husband is guaranteed a date for. And I do kind of like him, so it's off to the couch I go.

Happy Superbowl everyone!

I didn't know who I was rooting for until I saw the Steelers bullying up on the Cards. Then I HAD to root for the Cards. Sorry they lost. Sigh-my team never wins, that's why I stay out of sports.

I picked the Cards too because I liked Warner's story! Too bad they lost--but we had some great appetizers, yum!

It was such a good game. Of course I was rootin' for the home team (Cards) but it sadly, my cheers from the couch didn't help.

I can't tell you how sad I was to see the Steelers win. We know some seriously obnoxious Steeler fans and I wanted nothing more than to see their tails between their legs, kwim?
