Texas: The Middle

You know you're in Texas when you drive by someone's front yard and see these guys hanging around. We decided to name him "Steak."

On the Sunday of my trip (day three) Debbie and I got to have a girls only evening out. Her husband was kind enough to drop us off in the old downtown part of their city, where we roamed about and saw all of the cute shops they have. I knew I was going to have to buy some goodies for the kids, and it didn't take long to find just the right thing for Noelle.

It's not only a white kitty, but it has a tail that's long enough to be a scarf, which can be wrapped around the cute little girl that's holding it. I think you could say it was a success.

Charlie wasn't as easy to shop for -- a few funny gifts amused him, but he probably would have preferred a new Bakugan or something. Very original.

Dinner was at the most delicious Mediterranean Tapas place you've ever been to. The food was aMAzing! We spent more than two hours there, ordering this and that and the other thing. Hanger steak with an amazing sauce...grilled asparagus...kabobs...and the best part was the final dish: goat cheese with herbs, baked in a red pepper to pefection. YUMMO! Debbie and I are both big goat cheese fans, so this was a hit with us. I could have eaten 20 of them! And speaking of which, my recent trip to the store included peppers and herbed goat cheese -- I am SO going to try to make them at home.

After dinner we walked down the street to a local English Pub, where our first drinks were almost too pretty to drink.

Of course, drink them we did! Mine was the lemon drop, and Debbie got the blackberry cosmo. Shortly after we followed them with Midori Sours, highly recommended by our friend The Mom Jen. They were delicious! The best part, surprisingly, was that the clever bartender added some banana flavoring to keep it from being too heavy and sour. It was absolutely one of the best drinks I've ever had.

Cheers!
