Turtle update!
Thanks to a little Googlin', I found a turtle rescue group for the Bay Area, and sho' nuff, there's a guy not far from us that can take him in. When I told him how we came across the little critter, he thought it sounded like a Russian Tortoise, but Rick and I weren't buying it. I emailed him the picture and explained about the pointy nose, and he called me to warn me to be careful, because it did sound like a snapper, and they will bite! This morning my husband took him over and it turns out he's actually a Pond Turtle!

Here's a sample picture of one, which is exactly what our little guy looked like -- mystery solved! This group will be allowed to place him in the right home, which it turns out could possibly be the Monterey Bay Aquarium! It seems they're working on opening a Pond Turtle exhibit and being a Pond Turtle, he'd fit right in. I'm excited that he'll finally be somewhere with people who know what the heck to do with him. Somehow I don't think life in my bathtub was cutting it.

Easter Bunny!
We're spending Easter up north with my parents this weekend, which means we'll be hauling up the plastic eggs for the annual hunt in the country. I'm excited about one particular thing this year -- we actually get to purchase the chocolate bunnies for the kids! This is something we haven't done since my son was little, and possibly have never gotten to do for my daughter.

One word to explain that phenomenon: Grandparents.

This year it's ON and I'm determined to find something delicious for their baskets. My downfall is that I've waited so long that it may take a little extra shopping to find them. Just watch -- I'll end up with the lesser quality ones with the odd brand name and the sugar candy eyes like I always had as a kid! Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm aiming for something from Hershey's!

Taxes
We were fortunate this year that not only did we get tax money back, but it was enough to pay off all of our credit card debt! WOOHOO!! We are now debt free and I plan to work hard to keep it that way. I'm only carrying one card nowadays and it's for emergency only. My new motto is if I can't pay for it now, I can't afford it!

And all this without having yet watched all the Suze Orman Oprah episodes that are stacking up in my tivo!

How kind of you to care for that turtle; it sounds like he is in for a happy, exciting life :)

I've very happy for you on the debt-free thing; NICE! We have to PAY this year :(

Congrats on paying off that credit card debt - we did that when my dad died back in 1997 and have been clear of credit card debt ever since - it's an awesome feeling!

Congratulations on being Debt-free... we love Dave Ramsey and are working toward paying off our debt. Mostly just house and student loans. Cars and credit cards (shredded) are paid off!

Too bad we have to pay on our taxes again this year. I don't like that!

Glad you found a home for your new friend!
